Gildes of Veldine (like "gilded") was a soldier in Third Company of the King's Own during the 5th century HE. He was part of Sergeant Osbern's squad and died in June 460 when he and his horse fell through a trap into a spiked pit while the Own was in the north during Kel's years as a squire.
