The Egg Tumbler spends most of the battle hovering around along the top of the screen, where the player can't reach it, only lowering itself down and putting itself in attack range during a specific part of it's attack pattern. It's attack pattern is remarkably simple: it first spends a brief moment attempting to position itself above the player, before dropping the massive spiked metal ball it carries onto the ground. The ball will tumble along the ground for a little while, actively moving towards the player. After that the ball will stop, and Robotnik will lower his machine down in order to pick it up, thus bringing himself into range for physical attacks. Once he picks up the ball, he will move back up to the top of the screen and repeat the process.
