Southern Methodist University (also known as SMU) is a nationally recognized, private, coeducational university in University Park, Texas, (an enclave of Dallas). Founded in 1911 by the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, SMU currently operates campuses in Dallas, Plano, and Taos, New Mexico.
