The rock tree, called tongue-leaf by treecats, was a hardwood tree native to the planet Sphinx in the Manticore System. A mature rock tree stands about 13 meters (42 feet) in height, and had extremely hard and dense wood. It had long, slender, sword-shaped leaves of a particularly rich bright green which turned dark purple in the fall. It was also noted for its very straight trunk.
