I don't remember much detail, but I believe Suzaku beats Lelouch (Kallen abandons him because she learns about the Geass and he threatens to blow the three of them up) and sells him to the Emperor (Lelouch's father) in exchange for becoming a Knight of Rounds. Then the Emperor erases parts of Lelouch's memories and sends him back to school unders surveillence.
