The 2006 USG Sheetrock 400 was a Nextel Cup event held at Chicagoland Speedway on July 9, 2006. Jeff Gordon saw just the opportunity he was looking for. Gordon, still a bit irked with Matt Kenseth for an April incident at Bristol, spun Kenseth out of the lead with four laps to go. Gordon then went on to hold off Jeff Burton for the victory. Gordon never said it was intentional, but admitted he was trying to be agressive. Points leader Jimmie Johnson finished 6th and held a 51-point edge on Matt Kenseth (22nd), who crashed after running out of gas. Stats
