The unnamed Prison Officer was on duty at Highfield Prison when Peter Barlow was held on remand there pending his trial for the murder of Tina McIntyre. He fetched Peter from his cell to see his counsel and a few days later Steve McDonald approached him and told him that his father, Jim McDonald, was running an illegal line in alcohol in the institution. Jim had fed Peter hooch in return for getting his family to visit him and it was when Steve found out about the deception that he reported his dad.
