Magical Plants of the Americas and Their Uses by Euell Crockett, was first published in 1967 and quickly became a standard in the field. Crockett assigned this work (and subsequent revisions) as the textbook for his herbology classes at Kaaterskill Academy of Magic. When Ethan Lloyd entered Kaaterskill in 1995, the 15th edition was used.
