Battistismo (or Battistism) is a political term referring to the doctrine, policies and ideology of Antonio Battisti and his party, the Socialist Democratic Party (PDS). The ideology has been variously described as scholars as nationalist, welfarist, authoritarian, socialist and personalist. There has been widespread debate over whether the movement can be called left-wing, primarily due to its nationalism and strict law-and-order profile. Adherents of the ideology are typically referred to as battistiani (or alternatively battistians).
