Darod was a member of the Alsaurian resistance movement movement against the Mokra Order who ruled his planet. In 2372, he agreed to help Starfleet Captain Kathryn Janeway obtain tellerium. When the Mokra Order captured Tuvok and B'Elanna Torres, Darod agreed to help Janeway rescue them. Janeway had been hurt in the attack and was cared for by an man named Caylem. Darod believed Caylem to be a coward, because he had refused to join the resistance, even though his wife and daughter did. When Caylem's wife and daughter were killed, Darod refused to have anything to do with Caylem.
