The Sith Gate Ritual was a ritual supposedly created by Exar Kun that summoned his possessed lightsaber. According to myth, the lightsaber held Kun's spirit and it would takeover the owner of the lightsaber as a host. Numerous Sith Lords used this ritual to gain the powers of immortality, though only some succeeded. Atton Rand, one of the former companions of the Jedi Exile, fell victim to the curse. Once that happened, he was never heard from again. In the years to come, additional Sith Lords attempted the ritual, though they all failed. The deadly ceremony was also successfully used by Darth Revan.
