Reyga was a male Ferengi scientist who developed metaphasic shielding. He first gained notoriety when he presented his theories at the Altine Conference in 2369. Dr. Beverly Crusher later invited Reyga to demonstrate his shield aboard the USS Enterprise-D for fellow scientists Dr. T'Pan of Vulcan, Dr. Christopher of Earth, Klingon Dr. Kurak , and Takaran Dr. Jo'Bril. Reyga was murdered by Jo'Bril, made to appear that he was killed by his shield's failure. Crusher eventually discovered Jo'Bril's crime by violating Ferengi death rites and performing an autopsy.
