The regiment was formed in 1920 as the Mississauga Regiment in Ontario to perpetuate the lineage of the 75th (Mississauga) Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force following the First World War. In 1921, the regiment was renamed The Toronto Scottish Regiment by the commanding officer of the day, Lieutenant-Colonel Colin Harbottle, CMG, DSO, VD. On September 12, 2009, the regiment moved to the Captain Bellenden Seymour Hutcheson VC Armoury which is shared with the Toronto Police Service. The new armoury is notable in that it is a green building, earning a LEEDS silver rating.
