Boyfriend(ボーイフレンドBōifurendo) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Fuyumi Soryo. Boyfriend manga received the 1988 Shogakukan Manga Award for shōjo manga. In 2008, the manga was posted on the Yahoo! Comic Japan website, for free browsing, to celebrate Shogakukan's Shōjo Comic's 40th anniversary. The manga focuses on Masaki, a delinquent and former basketball star, and Kanako, a girl with an heart condition that forces her to repeat two years of school, as they develop a relationship.
