Bishop Amos Hagen was leader of the Amish community of Paradise. He was the community's spiritual and political leader. When a rash of suicides took place in Paradise, Dr. Elijah Good brought in outside help to perform autopsies. Amos saw this as a betrayal of the Amish beliefs and sanctioned Elijah with the Meidung. While searching for his dog in the woods, Amos came upon the Scarecrow Probe which killed him.
