Alan North is was an American actor who played the part of Captain Ed Hocken, Frank's boss, on Police Squad!. After this he starred in the short lived comedy series Love, Sidney for nineteen episodes. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. It's unknown why he didn't portray Hocken in the films. He also appeared in famous award- winning films such as Highlander and See No Evil, Hear No Evil. He also starred in Crazy People with Police Squad! and Robert K. Weiss He died January 19, 2000 in Port Jefferson, Long Island, New York, United States of both Kidney and Lung cancer.
