Ron Ben-Israel was born in Tel Aviv, Israel in 1957. Ben-Israel was an Israel Defense Forces soldier and a successful dancer in modern dance. In 1996, he fell in love with baking. He retired from dancing in 1993 to pursue a cooking career. He is best known for his wedding and special occasion cakes and for his detail in sugar paste flowers. He is openly gay and supports gay marriage.
