The Retrogressionists were a faction of Soong-type androids from an alternate timeline where Doctor Noonien Soong's vision of the widescale acceptance of artificial life. The were a minority group present on the android homeworld of Turing located in the Romulan Neutral Zone. They proposed that their kind petition for United Federation of Planets help and even membership but this was not a popular view as it would provoke the Romulan-Klingon Alliance.
