Lilyroot is a plant that grows in the Pool of Avalon that has magical healing properties. In "Handy's Sweetheart", Marina the mermaid sought after the lilyroot after her father King Aquarius had gotten fatally ill from indigestion, but as she was unable to jump up the waterfall on the River Smurf and was rendered unconscious during her attempt, it fell upon the Smurfs who rescued Marina to retrieve the lilyroot from the Pool of Avalon. However, Smurfette, Lazy, and Grouchy found out that the pool was guarded by a mean custodian who demanded gold in exchange for the lilyroot, and used his magical boots to nearly drown the three Smurfs in the pool's waters that turned to quicksand.
