[Source] Fighting droids were small and colored spherical droids that were made to fight each other for entertainment and gambling purposes in a game known as droid ball fighting. Spheres of the same color could to clump together in order to form fiercer fighters. Around 30 years after the Battle of Endor, several patrons of the pirate Maz Kanata's castle on the planet Takodana were watching a fight between several fighting droids on one of the venue's tables.
