The 2016 Spring Cyclone Season was the first ever documented 'Spring Cyclone Season' in the Atlantic Ocean. Storms mainly form from March 20 to June 20, but storms can form during any time of the year. Typically, spring cyclone seasons are usually inactive with usually less than 15 storms forming, but there are a couple seasons that have been more active. The 2016 Spring Cyclone Season was above active, with 19 depressions forming, 15 of those of which became tropical storms, 11 of those became minor cyclones, and 6 of them becoming major cyclones.
