Masaji Kato (Seiji Kato in the first game) is the head of one of Japan's secret super-solider programs in Shadow Hearts Covenant. He is one of Yuri's friends though through a tragic set of circumstances, he is driven to severe depression both as a humanitarian, and on a personal level.
