Sometimes its not all 1's and 0's, sometimes you need various shades of grey. Fuzzy Logic is normally used in rule based systems to define probabilistic rules. For example consider a rule stating a ball is round 90% of the time (i.e. not footballs), and bounces 95% or the time (i.e. not medicine balls).
