It's for the viewer's entertainment, because it's supposed to be funny that Spongebob is wreaking havoc on Bikini Bottom in a boat and is making everyone else crash because of his own stupidity but seems to emerge from the situation unscathed, telling Squidward that he forgot his boat smarts.
