The Central American Confederacy was founded in Belize on July 7th 2011. The liberal politician Emilio Chavéz Bogata formed the Counsel of Central American Nations which proclaimed itself the government of Central America. All seven nations signed the Declaration of Unity and formed a parliamentary Confederation with its capital at the city of Guatemala City. The first president became Hugo González.
