The Mining Worlds referred to four planets—all located in the Anoat sector of the galaxy's Outer Rim Territories—that were known for their abundance of mineral resources. Burnin Konn was considered to be a Mining World, though centuries-long mining operations to harvest its chromium and dolovite destroyed the planet's indigenous plant life and created a nearly uninhabitable wasteland. During the Iron Blockade, which was established by a remnant of the Galactic Empire in an attempt to prevent news of their crushing defeat by the Alliance to Restore the Republic at the Battle of Endor from reaching the Anoat sector's populace, the Imperials locked down the Mining Worlds, capturing every transport that attempted to pass through the blockade.
