Jeff Merchant appeared on Coronation Street in two roles: firstly as stable-owner Mr Newhouse who in January 2004 loaned a large, white horse to Tyrone Dobbs in his (disastrous) attempt to propose to girlfriend Fiz Brown. He returned to the programme in August of the following year as Geoff, a friend of Liz McDonald's short-term boyfriend Bob.
