The Late Pennsylvanian (its rocks belong to the Upper Pennsylvanian) is the third and final of three subepochs of the Pennsylvanian epoch of the Carboniferous period. It spans the time between 306.5 ± 1 Ma and 299 ± 0.8 Ma (million years ago). It is divided into two faunal stages, the Kasimovian and the Gzhelian.
