Very few characters from Russia or the former Soviet Union in Western television are played by native Russians. This was a particular case in the Cold War, for obvious reasons. As with Fake American, Fake Brit and all types of Fake Nationality, the quality of the imitation of the Russian accents varies from the very good to the awful to the not-even-attempted.
