General Order 47 was a standing regulation in Earthforce regarding the rendering of aid to vessels in distress. It stated: "Earthforce personnel are required to answer distress calls and assist any vessel not currently involved in hostilities against Earth." In late 2259, when Frederick Lantze of the Ministry of Peace berated Captain John Sheridan on providing assistance to the Narn heavy cruiser G'Tok, Sheridan cited General Order 47.
