The Imperial Junior Scouts were a Barrayaran youth organization probably similar to the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts on Earth. Being a paramilitary-like organization, the Junior Scouts may have been intended to prepare male Barrayarans, both Vor and proles, for military service in the Barrayaran Imperial Service when they grew up.
