Cynthia Blake, daughter of the banker who holds the mortgage on the Daily Express, was kidnapped by the Moroniabund's most fanatical member, Von Leo. He threatens to kill the banker's daughter if he doesn't foreclose on the Daily Press. He tells the banker to look out the window as he causes an explosion to show the banker he means business. In later issues, she becomes his secretary and girlfriend.
