Hosep was traveling with Virgil, who was going to meet with Gabrielle and Xena. They were ambushed by cannibals, and Hosep was captured. By the time Virgil made it to the cannibal village, they were roasting Hosep alive, after caking him in mud over a fire. Virgil shed a tear for his friend, and was captured himself.
