With Interplay Entertainment as a publisher, Volition Inc. developed the FreeSpace series of space simulation computer games. As Interplay tumbled towards bankruptcy, THQ acquired Volition in September 2000. Since then, Volition Inc. has developed several acclaimed titles including the Red Faction series, The Summoner series, The Punisher, and the Saints Row series. After the studio was purchased by Koch Media's video game label Deep Silver, Volition was now changed to Deep Silver Volition and had officially stated no longer working on the Red Faction franchise any more.
