Alex Gayle is a character in DEXTER. Alex is an artist who married an older, but successful woman by the name of Vanessa. She proved to be a powerful prosecutor, putting away countless criminals in her time but the stress was strong enough to force her into therapy with Dr. Emmett Meridian. Little did Alex know that the good doctor was in fact manipulating her through drug prescriptions and thoughts of suicide to actually kill herself, without physically committing the act himself. Vanessa unfortunately took her life, leaving her husband a widow while being the third powerful woman within a year's time to kill herself. Dexter Morgan ends up making the connection and avenges three victims when he kills Dr. Meridian.
