Incidentally, solving the mystery of Sylvia's whereabouts and identity was major reason why Doc came to 1931 in the first place (as he was putting a book together titled The McFlys of Hill Valley). In 1876, there was a picture of a woman named Delores Miskin in Beauregard Tannen's Palace Saloon. Her relation (if any) to Sylvia is unspecified.
