This technique is one of the few known personal skills of the legendary Sacred Elder Group, consisting of two powerful elders from each of the Five Great Nations. This technique was the Sacred Elders' signature defensive move and known as their ultimate defense in many aspects. This technique was later learned by Otoshi Nagare, one of the Sacred Elders, long after they disbanded, though his solitary version is nowhere near as powerful.
