The 1989 First Union 400 was a Winston Cup Series (now Nextel Cup) event held at North Wilkesboro Speedway on April 16, 1989. Dale Earnhardt won his first race of the year in dominating fashion, leading 296 of the 400 laps in route to a three second victory over Alan Kulwicki.
