Spruce Meadows is one of the world's most premier horse show jumping facilities. It has been voted #1 in the world for the past four years. Built in 1973 by Ron and Marg Southern, the complex was opened in 1975. Today, the site boasts over twenty buildings; seven permanent stables, two indoor arenas, tournament centre, administrative offices, Congress Hall, British House, on-line television production suite, maintenance, and storage buildings - all encompassed within 300 acres. Spruce Meadows boards approximately 80-100 horses year round, but can have over 300 horses lodged during tournaments.
