Bristol Rovers and Brighton have met on 109 occasions in the Football League and national cup competitions. The first Football League meeting between the clubs came on 25 September 1930, after both clubs moved from the Southern League to the newly-created Football League Division Three, a game that Rovers won 3-1 at Eastville. Rovers famously beat Brighton 8-2 in 1973, when Brian Clough was Albion manager.
