Gitte Hænning, known mononymously throughout Europe as Gitte, is a Danish singer and film actress. She first made an attempt at Eurovision in 1962 when she tried to represent her home country but was disqualified due to composer Sejr Volmer-Sørensen whistling the song in the canteen of the DR. Returning eleven years later, she was selected to represent Germany with the song Junger Tag, finishing in 8th place overall. Five years later, her third attempt came when she attempted to represent Luxembourg but lost out to the group Baccara.
