Mars is a planet of the solar system, the fourth from the Sun. Named after the Roman god of war, it is often nicknamed the Red Planet due to its reddish colour as seen from the Earth, a colour due to the oxydation of the iron-rich rocks of the planet. Mars is a terrestrial planet with a thin atmosphere. It also has two natural satellites, Phobos and Deimos.
