The Provisional Transition Government of Chile (Span: El Gobierno de TransiciĆ³n Provisional de Chile), often referred to as the Provisional Government or the Transition Government as opposed to its full name, was a short-lived governing body of Chile that lasted from February 16, 1989, when the Communist Party collapsed during a nonviolent military coup, to April 10, 1990, when Patricio Aylwin Azocar took the oath of office as President of Chile, becoming the first democratically elected leader of Chile since Salvador Allende's victory in 1964.
