In April 2165, the Tashmaji was assigned to Captain Malcolm Reed's task force that went into Ware territory. Her job, along with the courier USS Zabathu, was to provide support for the USS Pioneer, while she conducted her investigations and the task force remained on the edge of the sector. On May 26, the Tashmaji rendezvous with the Pioneer, and took on four passengers, who were liberated from a Ware trading post a few days earlier.
