The Socialist Republic of England, also referred to as Socialist England or Communist England, was the name of England between 1922 and 1956, when the Socialist Party was the ruling power. The era was defined by two of its Premiers, David Barham from 1922 to 1933, and Francis Cumberland from 1933 to 1937. The Socialist Era in England ended in 1950 when the Socialist government collapsed and the Anarchy, alternatively referred to as the Second English Civil War, began. The failure of Socialist England is often attributed to the diminishing of popularity for communist or socialist movements worldwide after the early 1950's.
