The 1964 Southern 500 was a Grand National (now Nextel Cup) event held at Darlington Speedway on September 7, 1964. Buck Baker took control of the race late, leading just 63 of the 367 laps, but pulled away to a two-lap victory on Jim Paschal. It was Baker's 46th and final series victory.
