"Go-before" was a slang term of the Novans on the planet Terra Nova in the 22nd century. It was their word in their dialect for their ancestors. Prior to contact with the Enterprise in 2151, the Novans believed the go-befores were "gutted" by Humans when they lived on the overside (surface). Later, one of the Novans, Nadet, came to believe that the go-befores and Humans were on the same shared path. Her mother, Vera Fuller, was both a Human and a go-before. She was convinced that her people should listen to the crew of the Enterprise, who were there to help the Novans. (ENT: "Terra Nova")
