Melissa Andropov was an Earth citizen and the commanding officer of the Icarus, the first Warshawski sail-using colony ship sent into space by humanity. Andropov and her crew departed Earth on September 9, 1284 PD, just a few years after the founding of the Solarian League. Their mission must have been a success as the Icarus was said to have provided over two centuries of reliable service before it was finally scrapped in 1491 PD. (UHH)
