The 1977-78 2e Divisie season was contested by eight teams and won by S.IJ. Den Bosch. The top three teams were promoted to a newly-enlarged Eredivisie for 1978-79. The 2e Divisie teams also competed in the Low Countries Cup. Some games they played counted for both competitions.
