The Twelve Bars of Xmas (also known by the acronym "TBOX", or "The 12 Bars") is an annual pub crawl held the first Saturday of December in the Wrigleyville neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois, USA. The theme "12 Bars of Xmas" is a parody of the famous Christmas song, the 12 Days of Christmas. Inspired by the area's heavy concentration of yuppies and many bars within a small geographic location, TBOX began in 1996 and has had over 1,000 participants the past 5 years, including over 1,700 in 2004. Beginning at 10AM and going through closing time, the event is known for its extreme in size and duration, and participants are rewarded for going "wire to wire" -- completing the entire event from start to finish. A portion of proceeds are donated each year to local charities.
